How to Create a Digital Menu in Menujo: A Tested Walkthrough

Key Takeaway

Create a draft, add items, publish and download a QR code. Follow current Menujo editor screenshots and check your menu before printing.

Before you start

This walkthrough uses the current Menujo editor, checked October 10, 2026. Cedar Cafe Demo is a fictional restaurant in an isolated local test account. Screenshots show a Pro test account; the manual entry, default design, publishing and PNG workflow described here is available on Free within its limits.

Free supports one menu, 50 items and 10 categories. Item photos and a restaurant logo are included. Paid design options and CSV import require Pro or Business. See current prices and limits before choosing paid features.

Gather your names, prices, currency, approved ingredient information and any photos you have permission to use. Setup time depends on your menu and preparation, so this guide does not promise a fixed completion time.

Create, publish and check your menu

  1. Create a draft

From Menus, choose Create Menu. Enter the restaurant name, a unique menu URL, an optional internal menu name and the currency. Create Menu saves a private draft. Choose a URL you can keep on your printed materials.
Create New Menu with fictional Cedar Cafe Demo details
  2. Add a menu item

In Menu items, choose a category or add one. Choose Add item, enter the name and price, and save. Description, photo, size prices and labels are optional. Review ingredient and allergen information with the kitchen before adding labels.
Add item editor showing Mint tea, description and a 3.50 USD price
  3. Publish and share

Once the item is saved, choose Publish menu. Check the live status, then use Share menu to copy the public link or download PNG. Account SVG downloads require Pro or Business. Publishing a real account makes its menu public.
Share menu dialog with public link and PNG and SVG downloads
  4. Check the guest view

Open View live menu outside the editor. Confirm the restaurant name, currency, descriptions and prices. Test search and long names on a phone. Scan a printed proof before ordering a print run, and retain paper copies for guests who need them.

Choose the design you can save

Free can save the default design, item photos and logo. The editor lets you preview paid design features; previewing them does not grant Free permission to save them. If a save requires an upgrade, remove the paid choice or choose the relevant plan.

Use concise item descriptions and legible text. A dietary label is information you supply, not a safety or compliance certification. Offer a staff contact for questions and keep required food labels separate.

Test an update before printing

Use a small price change as a check. For example, change a test item from $3.50 to $3.75, save it, and reload the same public menu URL in a separate browser. Confirm that $3.75 appears, then restore the intended price and check again.

The October 10 local walkthrough confirmed a saved item and a public menu load, and downloaded the QR PNG. The exported link uses the production Menujo hostname; the fictional local menu is not a live customer example.

A QR code encodes a URL. Menu content can change behind the same URL, but a removed destination or changed URL can affect access. Check the actual destination after major account or URL changes. Follow the QR troubleshooting guide if decoding or loading fails.

For an existing menu URL or PDF, see the free menu QR workflow guide. Keep a readable menu link and a paper fallback alongside your printed QR.

Questions about this workflow

Can I create a menu for free?

Menujo Free includes one menu with up to 50 items across 10 categories. Manual entry, item photos, logo upload, publishing and PNG QR download are available within those limits.

Can I update prices after printing the QR?

Yes, when you save changes behind the same working menu URL. Check the public page after saving and keep a paper fallback.

Do guests need an app?

Menujo menus open in a web browser. A guest needs a compatible way to open the link and an internet connection.

Can I use my spreadsheet?

You can preview CSV data, while importing it requires Pro or Business and must fit the current menu limits. Manual entry is available on Free.

Bring an existing spreadsheet

For an existing item list, use the tested CSV import walkthrough. Free can preview a file; Pro and Business can add the supported rows after review.
